Keep Your Skin Looking Great Cheap

SunlightProtecting your skin and working to keep it looking its best is a lifelong effort. With so many different products, such as creams and cleansers and pricey enhancers, it can be difficult to choose which ones are actually beneficial and best for your skincare regimen. Will that expensive eye cream really pay off in a decade? Can that cleanser keep wrinkles away in 20 years? Instead of turning to overpriced items, you can find reliable, affordable ways to keep your skin at its best with a few at-home changes.

Make Sure to Rinse and Repeat

Washing your face is crucial to keeping it shining, smooth, and healthy. Make sure your skin looks great by washing your face both in the morning and in the evening – even if you’re exhausted and just want to crawl into bed. Skipping that nightly face wash leads to a buildup of oil and dirt, which create blemishes, breakouts, and even bacterial growth. Use a gentle cleanser, or even cleansing wipes followed by a quick rinse, to remove all of the day’s gunk and grease from your skin.

Steer Clear of Sunlight

One of the biggest skin damage culprits is the sun itself, so it’s important to keep your skin well protected whenever you step outside and into its UV rays. According to the Mayo Clinic, prolonged and unprotected sun exposure is what causes most of the negative effects seen in aging skin. Each time you leave home, make sure you’re wearing sunscreen on your face – either high SPF sunscreen, or a moisturizer with a light SPF. If you’re planning on being outside for awhile, add a hat to your outfit to keep sunlight off of your face.

Slow Down with Less Caffeine

Caffeine is a fantastic thing to wake up with, but it isn’t a very good friend to skin. Drinking too much coffee, or ingesting too much caffeine, dehydrates the body and dries out skin – not just on your face, but also the entire body. Sipping too many cups each day will lead to dulled skin, which makes any fine lines or wrinkles appear even deeper.
